
Welcome to Edinburgh College! We are excited to welcome you to our EC community for Session 2022/23. This site will provide you with the information you need to begin your studies with us.
Below we’ll walk you through setting up your EC online account, making your application for Student Funding and accessing support, as well as introducing you to some of the teams from across the College.
Getting started
Course start dates
If you a starting a new course in January, your timetabled classes will start from the week commencing 23 January 2023. You will receive an email from us with a link to your planned timetable.
Please continue to check your timetable up until your course starts as things are subject to change.
Induction to College
Your Induction to College will take place during the first week of your course, please attend your timetabled classes to ensure you receive your Induction to our College.
We have created a handy Induction Checklist for you to work through to make sure that you have everything you need when you start as an Edinburgh College student.
Our Student Services teams which consist of Guidance, Funding and Wellbeing are here to support you throughout the year. To find out more, drop-in to Student Services when you are on campus, or attend a virtual drop-in via the Student Services Hub on Microsoft Teams.

Contact Student Services
Student Services teams also hold a daily virtual drop-in where you can get answers to funding queries. The drop-in is open weekdays from 10am to 12pm, and from 2pm to 4pm.
Our teams are available on campus throughout the year to support you with completing your course.

Once you have completed setting your EC Online Account, you can access our key Learning and Teaching platforms, Moodle and Teams. Watch the videos below to learn how to log in.

Wellbeing Support
Our Wellbeing team offers you the opportunity to have some support and guidance with self-management approaches for your mental health. The team are here to help you and can provide confidential support as well as access to a range of NHS-approved apps and online resources to help you.
Counselling Service
The Counselling team offers students one-to-one counselling sessions with a qualified counsellor. Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns, offering up to eight counselling sessions. Appointments are available online and face-to-face at each campus.
Meet your Students’ Association
Edinburgh College Students’ Association is here to represent and support students throughout their time at the College. ECSA is led by student officers who work towards enhancing the student experience for all at our College.
Your Student Card
Once you have enrolled for your course, you will have access to your digital student card via the MyEC mobile app. Read this Using MyEC Guide for information on how to download the app and view your digital student card.
IT access
We have libraries and resource centres across all campuses, which provide you with the use of PCs and a place to study in your own time.
If some or all of your course is taught online but you are not able to purchase a digital device yourself, the Guidance team may be able to support you to loan a device from the College. If you would like to find out more, please send an email in the first instance. You will then be contacted with instructions on how to apply.
Parking Permits
Parking permits are required to park in campus car parks. These can be requested by collecting a form from campus receptions when you start your course.
Tickets will be issued to anyone not displaying a valid permit or parked in prohibited areas outside of parking bays.
Cycle Storage
There are bike racks and secure cycle storage on all campuses. To access these storage areas, speak to a member of security staff at a campus receptions. You will need to show your student and the staff member will then provide you with a unique access code.
